Japanese Influence

The exhibition currently taking place in Paris at the Japan Foundation for Art & Culture in Paris is, even though quite small, really inspiring. Most of the pieces come from Tokyo's National Museum of Modern Art, but if you happen to be in Paris before December 23rd, go see it.

The kimonos and the patterns painted on the pieces exposed are definitely refreshing, compared to occidental Art Déco, which is abundantly ornamented -- and consequently redundant and heavy.
