Hopefully, WH Smith Paris stocks Elle Collections Spring/summer 2010 this year. This magazine really stands out amongst all the other catwalk roundup magazine, and is everything but "Elle-ish".
Firstly, the front-row photo on the cover is rather unusual for a fashion magazine, moreover the quality of the paper, grainy and glossy at the same time, are both very attractive.
Then the inside of it draws the level with the first impression: it's a layout dream.
It's printed on different papers, which gives it a more prestigious feeling (same trick than some more-expensive-than-average magazines such as Monocle).
The art directors probably had more freedom than in a very large circulation magazine, and, as a consequence, some pages look like pop art paintings!
Another great thing are the focuses on the patterns.
I totally agree with Susanna Lau that on-line cannot reproduce the feeling of the paper... But I guess it can suggest it.
