Monumenta 2010 by Boltanski

Monumenta 2010 by Christian Boltanski at Le Grand Palais.

At first sight I was disappointed, and felt that there was no link between the artwork and where it took place ( Le Grand Palais is one of the most illustrious monument in Paris ), except the connection between the height of the glass roof and the flat eveness of the clothes on the hard, concrete floor.

But once outside, I realized that Boltanski succeeded in conveying clearly a feeling of oppression and anxiety. As much unpleasant those sensations can be, he fulfilled the aim of passing on to us what he wanted, which is the goal of almost any artist.

But no one can beat Richard Serra's Monumenta --
